graphic glitch
I just printed out a bunch of cards yesterday, and I find that some of them (for insteance "Flood!" http://phylogame.org/?s=flood!) have a missing-graphic image where the code should be in the upper-right corner.

another printing glitch
The class, etc information below the picture has the correct text on the web page (though the font generally has it running off the edge of the card). On the printed sheets, the text is nice and small, but gibberish. Striped Hyena, for instance, is "$ QIP ..." I assume this might mean I need a special font loaded?

Hmmm... That's weird - can you pass on a picture of that for me? Maybe some info on the PC you're using as well might help.

hmmm, gone now
Well, this morning that graphic glitch didn't recur for me, either printing to PDF or to the printer. So, it's hard for me to get you a picture and it might not matter.
One other thing that went along with the funny text, but I didn't realize until I was cutting the cards out--they're smaller than the ones I'd printed out earlier (about 5.5 x 7.5cm instead of 6 x 8.5 cm).
I'm running an oldish HP PC with Windows XP and service pack 2.
Hmm, I'll check one other thing. I'm printing today using the Chrome browser, and yesterday I think I was using Firefox. I'll go try Firefox again...

Oi, reproducing errors is tricky
From Firefox (version 3.6., printing to a PDF looks OK. At least the classification text looks OK. When I then print the PDF, the cards are small (even a little smaller than the 5.5 x 7.5cm mentioned above). I expect the size issue in this case can be blamed on the peculiar free print-to-PDF software I'm using.
From Firefox, printing to the printer(Canon MX860) looks bad-as in the original post, cards are smaller dimensioned, and the classification text is funky.

Another thing to look at is what you are printing and where the source has come from.
e.g. If I go to the website and choose 6 cards and generate a sheet to print, I get cards of size X.
However if I download the starter deck from http://phylogame.org/files/PHYLOstarterdeck54cards.pdf and print it, the cards are of size Y.
Why is there a difference in size?
There are a couple of different reasons:
1. The starterdeck PDF is formatted for US Letter paper and in Australia we print A4 paper which is a bit narrower and longer. When the printer attempts to "fit to paper" and needs to shrink the page proporitionally to fit it on A4 and hence the cards are printed smaller.
2. When you print from the website and the PDF is generated ... nah, I've got nothing here. If the server uses a US Letter formatted PDF template then I should have got cards the same size. But that didn't happen. It might be that the b&w laser printer I used adapted the generated pdf to different margins or just had a larger overall printable area.
Does anyone know how the PDF template is formatted?
Cheers,
-T.

In my case, all my printing was by selecting cards and printing, I didn't realize there was an existing starter-deck PDF.
