Broken chains: Ocean and Desert
I was actually building decks tonight to take to game meet on Sunday and ran into a problem.
You can't build off a Desert or an Ocean. There's nothing to start the food chain for those habitats. Plenty of larger critters, but nothing to start the chain.
So I'm taking an Urban based deck and a Grasslands based deck as they've got whole chains.

Thanks for the note. Got to find me some pictures of cacti and algae/seaweed/kelp!

desert rats, desert grasses, phytoplankton and zooplankton would be good too.
Re: Broken chains: Ocean and Desert
freshwater also have no starting point, unless I missed a card while looking through. tundra only has one card (Alpine mitrewort) with which to start chains.

Re: Broken chains: Ocean and Desert
In general the bottom of the food chain is missing a lot of low level critters. I think I saw 2 bugs/archanids in flipping through. (though I may have missed one)
I'll go through my backstock of art and dump it into the art queue. I have a lot of bugs in my portfolio.
Plants... not so much... but I do need to do some stuff for upcoming art show so I will TRY to go draw some local species in next few days. It'll most by invasive field weeds and Eastern woodland stuff that way, but I will attempt to hit the swamp as well.
Bug bites for SCIENCE!

Just added a freshwater foodrank#1 (good old Haekel to the rescue!). I've made a request for a Kelp image - fingers crossed, and will look a little harder in Haekel's imagery (maybe there's an ocean related flora one?)

For what it's worth, I just created an image of plant from the Namib desert and uploaded it to the Flickr pool...

Re: Broken chains: Ocean and Desert
Desert is still broken.
Freshwater is also broken despite having rank 1 and rank 2 critters because their climates mismatch.
Ocean now works... sort of. There's only 1 rank 1, and 1 rank 2, with really restrictive climate so most of the rank 3s are unplayable because they're cold/cool predators.

Is there any small ocean animal which live in warm/hot habitat? Do beach animals count? Is there really any warm/hot ocean?
