Phylomon Cards Empty Phylomon Cards

Post  Forbidding Sat Mar 27, 2010 6:37 pm

I just checked this out today and would like to participate but I am not sure of the requirments or even where the project is at this point due to how unorginized everything is at the moment.

I have a strong intrest in wildlife especially the extinct and the more unusal and lesser mentioned animals. I would be interested in doing card art.

Any information on where to submit it or how there selected/how to participate would be appreciated.

Hello there. Sorry if things look a little disorganized right now. Things should look a lot better once the site is up (which is looking like next week). For, now basic premise and links for things like submitting art can be found either in the "sticky" "phylomon-official" thread of this forum, or at the top of the main url (which is http://phylogame.org or http://phylomon.org

See also another thread on discussion about extinct creatures. Basically, the project is happy to get images for this criteria but will hold off using them until the a basic game has been worked out with non-extinct species.

cheers
dave

Thanks, I still have a few questions though:

1.) Am I allowed to put a copyright on the image or is it preferd to be left off so the cards don't have images with alot of copyrights scribbled on them?

2.) Can any animal be submitted from any region?

3.) How realistic show they be or will all the art vary in style and realism?

and I'm assuming it all has to be in color (children like color) and resized to the demensions specified when I submit it to flickr.

You can keep a copyright sign in the image if that is your preference, but obviously hopefully not in the way that obscures the image. If it helps, we only need a relatively small image so from a "someone stealing it" point of view, it will hopefully have limited use.

Any organism would be lovely. Essentially whatever you have or whatever you are interested in is great. If you're looking for requests, we're particularly low on microbes, plants and insects right now. We'll also be looking for images that would depict some sort of environmental challenge/action as well as habitat type cards.

How realistic the animal is up to you (there's a thread on this somewhere in this forum). Basically, from testing with a variety of children (ages 6 to 14), the preference for style seems to be all over the place. However, they did like colourful, and the students knew when the art was of "high production value" versus a quick sketch kind of thing (you can peruse the current submissions to get a feel of the variety we have there). Anyway, we're going for a variety of art styles at this point, but could entertain specific art style sets in the future?

If you submit to Flickr in other dimensions, that's o.k. too. Just makes it easier for us if everything is ready to go at the requested dimensions.

cheers
